videos

At our last staff meeting and the other nigh when we had our building dedication ceremony my principal showed these video clips. The first one if from our staff meeting and the seconded one is from the building dedication. I found both of them very interesting.

  1. Wow! That video (the first one is the only one I've checked out so far) is awesome! Very compelling! It's great that the leader of your building is setting an excellent example about how to view technology in the classroom! It makes me feel convicted about not challenging myself enough and thinking outside the box enough. I am definitely interested in thinking of ways to have students use their cell phones in class. It would be awesome if there was a way we could have a number they could text something to that would make something show up on something like say, a class blog or class wiki. (It would not surprise me if we have a means available to us in the next few years to be able to do this). I also was very interested in the podcasting idea. I do not even know enough about podcasting myself, but I am interested in learning more. I know that we have ipod touches in our library available for check out, just haven't learned any specifics about how to use them in the classroom yet.

Very cool video though! Thanks for sharing!

  2. I finally watched the video you posted. Very powerful. Makes me think "oh boy I need to get on the stick!" I would like to know about the podcasting idea, not really sure how I would go about it at all. As for the cell phones, I suppose I do have them use it at times. They are assigned to create a nature guide of wildlife at the pond that is on our school's property. Several of the students have created their information by using their cell phones instead of looking up online to find a picture but then they have to know what it is exactly before they can look it up.
